First Anniversary of Feb 4 Protest

It has been a year since the massive protest on Feb 4 2006 at the Royal Plaza.

At least we ousted the most corrupt tyrant in our history.

The current government has yet to show its capability and fulfill its role. The extensive corruption and the insult on His Majesty must be brought to the Thais via national broadcasts. Those who committed them must be brought to justice and punished.

Gen. Surayudh, please hurry and finish these tasks.

FOREIGN Governments, please know that...

THAI PEOPLE FULLY SUPPORT THIS COUP.

DO NOT CONDEMN THIS MILITARY MOVE.

THIS ACTION IS LED BY VIRTUOUS ARMED FORCES CHIEFS.

THEIR ACTIONS ARE BASED ON LEGITIMATE REASONS.

THEY WERE GRANTED AN AUDIENCE WITH OUR REVERED KING AT MIDNIGHT.

THE EVIL EX-PRIME MINISTER HAS BEEN DECEIVING THE WORLD.

WAIT UNTIL DIRT COVERING THE THAKSIN GOVERNMENT'S EVIL DEEDS IS REMOVED, AND YOU'LL UNDERSTAND.

THAKSIN IS HITLER+MUSSOLINI+SADDAM HUSSEIN+FERDINAND MARCOS IN DISGUISE, AIDED BY COMMUNISTS-FILLED CABINET AND CORRUPT BUSINESS AND LEGAL ASSOCIATES.

THAKSIN AND THE COMMUNISTS INTENDED TO ABOLISH MONARCHY AND ESTABLISH THEMSELVES ABSOLUTE RULERS.

THAKSIN'S FAMILY HAD ALREADY TRANSPORTED THEIR ASSETS AND VALUABLES TO SINGAPORE AND ENGLAND, AMONG OTHER PLACES OVERSEAS, WITH ASSISTANCE FROM RESPECTIVE GOVERNMENTS. Those who aided them will have to answer to the Thais shortly.

THAKSIN AND CRONIES HAD ROBBED THE COUNTRY IN THE EXTENT OF MARCOS OR GREATER.

***DO NOT JUDGE THIS MILITARY ACTION TOO QUICKLY IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW EVIL, CORRUPT, AND RUTHLESS THAKSIN AND HIS EQUALLY EVIL MEN ARE.***

The Army Chief led the Coup on Sep 19 2006

General Sondhi Bunyaratkalin, the Army Chief, led a coup and took control of the country. At the same time, the Constitution and the caretaker government have now been dissolved. All the armed forces chiefs went in for an audience with the King around midnight.

Earlier in the evening, Tyrant Thaksin declared a state of emergency and fired the Army Chief.

However, we are waiting to hear whether the Tyrant will be making a speech at the UN General Assembly on Wednesday September 20th or not.

There are Thais who have been staging protests at several locations in New York City, including the front of the UN building and the hotel that the tyrant is staying.

The March 25 2006 Massive Rally

The main stage was moved on March 23 to Makawanrangsan Bridge in order to make way for the annual Red Cross Charity Fair. The People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) gave the ultimatum to the caretaker PM to resign within 48 hours.

The 48-hour period passed with no resignation. The defiant Tyrant still went on campaigning in the countryside. The PAD then declared another round of protest at 2PM March 25 2006 (today) on Rajdamnern Nok. People from the rural areas are pouring into the capital and combining their power with the awaiting urban fellow countrymen. Once people have consolidated their power, there's no telling what they can achieve.

The March 14 2006 March

A mass rally was scheduled for 7AM on March 14 2006. The crowd would proceed peaceful from the Grand Park to the Government House.

The orderly and civil march reached the Government House. Protesters camped out on the confined street stretch. Daytime and nighttime speeches and entertaining programs kept their company. Countless people made donations; many people donated food and other necessities to the protesters. It was amazing to see the outpouring support from the public to the cause. During this time, the cowardly Tyrant avoided facing the crowd by spending time elsewhere.

March 5, 2006

Today is the day the anti-Thaksin people will gather again at the Grand Park and around the Democracy Monument.

This last leg of demonstration is expected to be lengthier than previous ones, for there is a march planned for March 6, 2006, to the PM Head Office, the "Thai Koo Fah" Building.

The military have been on full alert in case of physical clashes between the pro-government and the anti-Thaksin groups. I just hope this never happens.

I am leaving around 3PM and planning to meet the group of friends from last week.

God, please be with the right and help us open the blind's eyes.

==

I joined the Sunday rally along with the same group of friends. As usual, there were a wide varieties of people; in fact, they were mostly the same group who came to previous demonstrations--except for more students had shown up. Final examinations and national test dates were behind, and they were free on summer vacation now. I looked around and couldn't help feeling overwhelmed. Groups of high school students in uniform, whole families of parents with grown or teenage children, older people, urbanites, ruralites, etc., all shared the same ideal. Their hearts united.

Only a few things they wanted done right--getting rid of the evil tyrant, restoring true democracy, and diffusing economic and political monopolies. We listened to music, talks, and watched a political Chinese opera until around 10PM. The crowd started marching to the Democracy Monument and onward to the Government House a few miles away. We ran into a police barricade.

After an intense negotiation, however, they finally let us through. We got to the Government House and Mr. Sondhi staged a talk. We hung around until midnight then agreed to go home.

The event of the day was more than ordinary. The organizers' colossal task of maneuvering people in the scale of close to 200,000 in a calm and orderly fashion should be acknowledged with a great kudos. This said a lot about the quality of the participants--a civilized and rational class of people. I was truly honored to be among them.

I felt compelled to record this. I stopped by a friend's house on my way to the Grand Park. My friend said a few things that gave me a chill. She said when he was cornered, this PM would use a tactic to draw attention away from himself. Before I left, she told me to wait and see that an unexpected event of monumental importance would occur.

Something would happen to a person or persons who was/were well respected or revered in Thailand. I laughed off her prediction/prophecy as ridiculous. Who would dare to do such a thing? Anyone knows better. Harming well regarded public figures only hurts your cause.

No sooner had my friend's resonance subsided from my ears than the bomb sounded outside the Privy Council President's residence.

Finger pointing and mudslinging followed. Blames were exchanged. To date, there was no suspect.

Then around 1AM March 22 2006, a mentally ill man allegely got into a highly revered shrine of the god Brahma in the middle of Bangkok and pounded down the statue. Shocked, a stall vendor screamed for help. A few cab drivers beat the man to death.

Superstitious, Thais viewed this incidence as an omen and made prediction that the current political turmoil could develop into a chaos or a riot or even a bloodshed.

I am now waiting to see what unexpected thing is to happen next.

March 3, 2006 - The BIG LIAR on stage

The Potty-mouthed Prime Monster took the stage at the Grand Park on Friday March 3, 2006, claiming to explain everything.

HOWEVER, a liar will always be a liar. The pm PM didn't say anything to clarify its own "alleged" wrongdoing that the People wanted answered.

Instead, it used the stage to whitewash itself and asked for votes on the day of its own choosing--April 2, 2006.

The people who came that day were all "hired hands." The pays ranged from Baht200-1,500 (roughly US$5-37.50). Photographic evidences of cash handing were posted on a prominent news website. Free transportation and free dinner were also provided. Most came from provincial cities and towns.

When interviewed whether they had any knowledge of "Ample Rich Investment, Inc.," "The British Virgin Island," "The Tax-free Sale of Shin Corp.," "CTX Bomb Scanner," or "Russian Military Aircraft SU30," the pro-government participants said they had no clue.

I rest my case.

February 26-28, 2006 Rally

I joined the public demonstration on Feb 26 2006 with my new pair of $60 Reebok running sneakers. My friend who earlier planned to go with me decided not to go because the parliament was dissolved and because she had to go to work on Monday the 27th, and so off I went.

To me, like many others, the dissolution of the House was not the answer to the whole problem. The problem was nothing but the evil PM.

I took the same bus route as on Feb 4 and got there at 7PM. There were tens of thousands of people already. The talks were going on on stage.

Unbelievably I met a friend--a retired bank executive--who came with a doctor and his wife. We all sat and listened to the talks from respectable public figures and activists. The size of the crowd was more than 100,000 for certain. The rally was peaceful and orderly. It was along the line of the February 4 Rally.

I came home at midnight with a good feeling that the people would win in the end.

The three opposition parties agreed not to participate in the April 2 Election for they were in a disadvantaged position. Knowing before hand, planning ahead, and having all the thugs, campaign money, and instruments ready, the ruling party would have all the advantages. There were only 37 days to the election day. Who else would come in landslide but the crooks? They would again have the legitamacy to rule and corrupt again under "the People's Choice" claim.

Late at night on Feb 27, the crowd marched to the Democracy Monument on Rajdamnern Road for a candle vigil honoring the Fallen Heroes of the October 14 1973, October 6 1976, and May 1992 Fights for Democracy. They agreed to temporarily dissolve and go back home in order to wait for the outcome of the political parties. We wanted to see if they would all agree to "revise" the Constitution and mke it "fairer" and clearer.

As of today, Feb 28, most of the demonstrators had left the Plaza except for the "Dhamma Army." The anti-government movement, under the banner "People's Alliance for Democracy," will reconvene at the Grand Park on March 5-6, 2006.

3rd Rally scheduled for Feb 26 2006

The 3rd public demonstration is scheduled for Sunday Feb 26, 2006, at the Royal Courtyard next to the Grand Palace in Bangkok. Its motto is "No Victory, No Disassembly."

Many more people are expected because of the mounting disapproval of the Potty Mouth.

More and more well-respected statesmen, academics, politicians, businesspeople, students, and ordinary folks have been voicing their resentment.

The voice resonated among well-educated urbanites is now spreading around the country.

However, grassroot citizens and the less educated who live upcountry are still in the dark, for the government-controlled media heavily counter-attack the anti-government movement. Free TV channels and state radio stations continuously broadcast pro-government propaganda in defiance of the power of the people.

We shall see who will win...

I am definitely going, in my new pair of sneakers. This time with a friend from Junior High. We will be well-prepared for an extended stay.

The February 11 2006 Rally

I didn't go, but these were the scenes. I believe the people who went last time went back this time. They might be joined by newcomers. The rally went smoothly.

I got to read synopses of some stage speeches by respected speakers. The end of tyranny is not so far off...

Another rally is scheduled for February 26. I will be there in my new pair of sneakers.
